Reducing Violent Crime at Places: The Research Evidence

On February 3rd, 2009, at the Russell Senate Office Building of the U.S. Congress. Senior Fellow Dr. Stephen Mastrofski and doctoral student Cody Telep joined eight other scholars to present the state of research on “what works” to  tackle violent crime at places.

Evidence-Based Counter Terrorism Research

September 10, 2007, at the Russell Senate Russell Office Building of the U.S. Congress. A group of GMU and other researchers presented empirical findings on the effects - both intended and unintended - of counterterrorism interventions.

Stockholm Criminology Symposium
June 14-16, 2010 at the Stockholm City Conference Center. David Weisburd will receive the 2010 Stockholm Prize in Criminology in a ceremony at Stockholm City Hall on June 15.

April 27-28, 2009 at the University of Maryland and Hall of the States Building in Washington, DC. Featured one day of presentations covering methodological issues and a second day focusing on research findings highly relevant to current crime and justice policy.

Senator's Symposium on Drugs in America: Trafficking, Policy and Sentencing

October 15, 2008 at George Mason University. Professors Faye Taxman and Cynthia Lum participated in Senator Jim Webb's special panel on drugs in America.

Dr. David Weisburd will present "Location, Location, Location: Hot Spots of Crime and Crime Prevention" as part of the George Mason University Office of the Provost Vision Series. The presentation will be held in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall on the Fairfax Campus at 7:00pm. Free tickets and more information are available HERE.


September 22-23, 2009
Dr. Cynthia Lum presented on "Evidence-Based Practices in Criminal Justice" at the National Academies, National Research Council Workship on Field Evaluations of Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences. Click HERE to view a copy of the presentation.
